Broccoli sprouting seeds are intended for growing edible sprouts. Some garden seeds may be treated or intended specifically for growing mature plants, so always choose seeds suitable for sprouting when growing sprouts to eat.

Using approximately 15 to 20 g per batch, one 90 g packet will grow at least 4 full jars of fresh broccoli sprouts.

Yes. Soak your broccoli seeds in cool water for approximately 8 to 12 hours before draining and beginning your regular rinse and drain routine.

Broccoli sprouts are usually ready in around 3 to 6 days. Growing time can vary depending on temperature and growing conditions.

Glucoraphanin is a naturally occurring plant compound found in broccoli and particularly concentrated in young broccoli sprouts. When broccoli sprouts are chewed or chopped, an enzyme called myrosinase helps convert glucoraphanin into another plant compound called sulforaphane. This is one of the reasons broccoli sprouts have become such an interesting area of nutrition research.

Yes. These seeds are suitable for both sprouting and growing as microgreens. Sow them into a tray with growing medium and allow them to continue growing beyond the sprout stage until the young microgreens are ready to harvest. They can also be grown using the That Leaf Microgreens Grow Kit.

Once your broccoli sprouts are ready, keep them refrigerated at 5°C or below. At That Leaf, we keep our sprouts in the sprouting jar with the mesh lid rather than sealing them in an airtight container. While they're in the fridge, rinse and drain them thoroughly once a day and return them to the fridge. Always use clean hands and equipment, rinse thoroughly and discard sprouts if they develop an unusual smell, appearance or texture.
